For if you had believed Moses, you would have believed me because he wrote about me. But if you do not believe his writings, how will you believe my words?" (Jn 5:46-47).
God is good all the time.
Whether weak or strong in our faith, no one should take constant prayer to ask God to keep him or her in obedience to his commands for granted. And understand that no one is beyond the help of prayer, even as without it, life’s pride, anxiety, and preoccupations never become easier to control, it essential that we embrace it.
Not long after making their solemn pledges to obey the ten commandments( Cf. Ex 19), the Israelites broke their promises and worshiped the golden calf. Of this, it is written:
They have soon turned aside from the way I pointed out to them, making for themselves a molten calf and worshiping it.
The incursion of God’s anger was avoided by the people because of Moses' faithful character and intercession on their behalf in the same way that Jesus approaches God as the mediator and intercessor between God and us.
Jesus tells the Jews that his works testify to his extraordinary identification with God as Son and Messiah. A claim that the Father, John, and Moses also attest. Therefore, he is our intercessor and a go-to person before God.
We always face the risk of "turning aside quickly" from God and our faith, and notice that obeying God's commands can become extremely hard unless we approach our great intercessor, Jesus for help.
And none of us should think that they are beyond the prayer of Jesus Christ for help and support. So, when the temptation is giving in to your passions, going against the faith, violating God's commands, do not stop there. Take the steps to your inner sanctuary and pray to the Lord.
