Whoever breaks one of the least of these commandments and teaches others to do so will be called least in the Kingdom of heaven. But whoever obeys and teaches these commandments. ( Mt 5:19)
God is good all the time.
Today's readings focus on God's commandments to teach us that it is not our hard work, long years of work, or meticulous planning of our lives that bring great, happy life; instead, it is the blessing we receive by carefully following of God’s perfect commandments. Understand that God's blessing comes to us from his love and goodness, but observing his laws extends it in a greater and more comfortable ways.
We know that even the imperfect federal, state, and city laws we have can provide greater freedom from apprehensions and comfort for us when we bide with them as citizens. How much will God's perfect law produce impeccable life of peace, happiness, and true joy for us?
According to Moses, God's law makes those who follow them wise and intelligent, but also set them apart with extraordinary life that others easily notice. When Jesus tells us that he has come to fulfil the law, he sets himself apart as the one who is the fullness of the commandments, or God's Word and the one who fulfills our lives.
To the Christian, living in Christ and following his teaching means that we are following the commandments, and if we are faithful to Jesus, then others should notice the grandeur and happy moments of our life in Christ. If we follow him with all our strength, heart, soul, and mind, we will become great and happy. Simple, faithful discipleship creates unimaginable attractions that daily makes us great in the kingdom of heaven.
