He will glorify me because he will take from what is mine and declare it to you. Everything that the Father has is mine; for this reason, I told you that he will take from what is mine and declare it to you.( Jn 16: 14-15).
God is good, all the time!
Do you know your single most significant reason for being a Christian? It is to understand who Jesus is and glorify him. When we look at the life of Jesus and the early Christians, we understand that glorifying God encompasses four things: intellectual stimulation, stirring imagination, emotional deepening, and passion, which we receive from the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit refreshes us with these inner gifts.
Intellectual stimulation: we need some degree of intellectual stimulation to read and understand the bible, church teachings, and the writings of the saints. Jesus was emphatic that the Spirit will teach us to comprehend what we lack in understanding. Without a remarkable intellectual knowledge of God, Christian theology means nothing, and living it is hard.
Stirring imagination: What we can imagine is as accurate to us as what we can see. Parents can imagine that their children, grandchildren, family members, and friends who are far away are doing well. They even guess what they are doing at different times and feel better about it. The Holy Spirit sharpens our imagination about God and about Jesus— making it easier for us to glorify God. With our authentic imagination, we know and experience Jesus in the Eucharist.
Emotional deepening: Does not what we feel make sense to us? If we can glorify God, it requires deepening our moving experience with Jesus and with the things about God. We must love him! We must see him! We must feel his presence around us. The Holy Spirit is there to refresh us with intimate feelings and the need for God.
Endless passion: Look at people who are passionate about something because they understand that it is meaningful to them— how they show it, talk about it, and reflect it in their actions. When we rely on the Holy Spirit for passion for glorifying God, it becomes something we enjoy doing.
Prayer blessings: Lord, it is my desire to experience your loveliness. So let me give all me to you, all to you! Amen.
