My friend, I am not cheating you. Did you not agree with me for the usual daily wage? Take what is yours and go. What if I wish to give this last one the same as you? Or am I not free to do as I wish with my own money? Are you envious because I am generous? -Matt 20:13-15
Friends, God is good all the time!
God's grace is abundant in the world; it is that which sustains it. We see it all around us. What is the reason any of us should lay a claim on anything about life? The availability of grace as divine orchestration separates human beings from God. As the world arranges more for some and less for others, divine grace seems abundant in equal measure. We tend to think that a good person should be blessed, and the wicked be cursed. For whether we are blessed with plenty of life or resources, it is not because we deserve it. It is God who chooses to pour out in any means His gifts. That acknowledging grace as not a merit-based phenomenon should be an essential part of daily Christian way of life.
In the parable of the landowner and laborers, Jesus shows that grace is not a divine debt we expect its payment and await it. Instead, it is a gratuitous gift we all enjoy from God. In response to people who judged others as undeserving, the landowner in the parable said, "My friend, I am not cheating you. Did you not agree with me for the usual daily wage? Take what is yours and go. What if I wish to give this last one the same as you? (V. 13-14).
Grace teaches us to believe and accept that we can always count on God more than human beings because people have limitation that God doesn’t possess. Some people consider others as undeserving, but it is not so with God. Some people even go to the extent of ensuring that others never get what is necessary for them, but it is not so with God. Grace leads us to look beyond ourselves and reach out to God. But it also helps us to view others considering God's kindness towards us. Prayer blessings: Father, you are the Alpha and Omega, the beginning and end of all graces and blessings. Keep us in your love and preserve our lives by your power so that we may always prevail in all circumstances. Amen.
