I have heard your prayer and seen your tears. I will heal you: in three days, you shall go up to the Lord's temple; I will add fifteen years to your life. I will rescue the city from the hand of the king of Assyria; I will be a shield to this city. -Is 38:5-6
Friends,
God is good all the time!
Praying more and complaining less and believing more and doubting less seem to pay off most of the time when we engage in them. God wants us to trust Him and pray to Him. He also wants us to pray without doubting what our prayer can do. Therefore, let us develop the habit of going to God in prayer and believing that He will hear us.
When king Hezekiah naturally got sick and learned that the illness will undoubtedly lead to his death, his inclination for prayer led him to pray to God for leniency. Thereupon God heard him and added fifteen more years to his life. One thing we notice about Hezekiah is that he never complained about his illness not doubted God. Instead, he took hold of his faith and put it into work by praying.
Complaining about situations is never an effective way to get results. Prayer is most effective if only we pray without doubting. People who doubt during prayer do not receive what they pray for. James 1:8 refers to this as double mindedness. The Greeks refer to the person who doubts as "double-minded” i.e., a person with a dual personality. One of their personalities receives God's word with faith, confidence, and trust, while the other one doubts the word and “instills fear” and hopelessness in the heart. A double-minded person finds it difficult to settle on what they want from God" because their spiritual vision is clouded.
We must be careful what we read or listen to because they fuel our doubts or complaining and create conflict within us or with others. Rely on the word of God.
Prayer blessing: Lord, keep me stable and firm in you. Never let my feet slip away from your dwelling place. Amen.
