When Joseph awoke, he did as the angel of the Lord had commanded him and took his wife into his home.( Matt 1:24).

God is good all the time.

The readings for today's Mass offer additional significance: they trace and link Joseph aback to David and forwardly to Jesus, making him the ultimate fulfillment of the patriarchs and the prophets' line.

But the solemnity of Saint Joseph itself offers us a helpful moment to turn to this holy man and ask for his intercession to help us reach his foster son. On this day, I recommend that you do three things:

 First, spend time reflecting on the scripture that informs us of Joseph’s action after the angel spoke to him:  When Joseph awoke, he did as the angel of the Lord had commanded him and took his wife into his home. Joseph was a "yes" man! He unequivocally said yes to God's commands, set his heart on them faithfully, and buried his own interest. 

Second, consecrate your home to him. The bible intimately identifies him with a good home- a place intended to make members feel loved, accepted, and needed. Enthrone him in your home and ask him to bring your home to perfection.

Third spend time today to pray for his intercession, particularly with the Litany of Saint Joseph:

Comfort of the troubled,	pray for us.
Hope of the sick,	pray for us.
Patron of the dying,	pray for us.
Terror of evil spirits,	pray for us.
Protector of the Church,	pray for us.

God made him master of his household,	And put him in charge of all that he owned.

Let us pray.
O God, who in your inexpressible providence
were pleased to choose Saint Joseph
as spouse of the most holy Mother of your Son,
grant, we pray, that we, who revere him as our protector on earth,
may be worthy of his heavenly intercession.
