All things have been handed over to me by my Father. No one knows the Son except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son and anyone to whom the Son wishes to reveal him. -Lk 10:22
Friends, God is good, all the time.
When we are looking for help, we gravitate towards those we know can help us. Our knowledge of people prompts us to go or not to go to them. In today's gospel, Jesus sets the stage for his followers to get to know him and use such knowledge in our favor to come to him for every assistance we may need in life. The Lord is there always to help. And he even assures us that Father has entrusted everything to him, making him the only one who can assist us in every way.
Jesus relates his knowledge of the Father to his filial relationship. Jesus claims this unique relationship that no one on earth has ever claimed. In all the salvation records, none of the patriarchs, from Abraham to Joseph, or prophets, from Samuel to John the Baptist, ever claimed any divine sonship that Jesus maintained he has.
Let’s trust Jesus as the right person for our salvation and approach him for our needs because no one else can take his place in our lives or fill the gap inside us that the knowledge of him should cover. Some people don't make an effort to get to know their friends or even spouses because they never develop a relationship. They wait for something happen and make excuses about not really knowing the person. We do not approach Jesus this way. What is even the best thing about us and Jesus is that when we know him well and derive our life from him, his friendship inspires us to grow in more substantial knowledge and awareness of others, families and friends together.
So, how do you get to know Jesus more today? I will offer one way. Think about Jesus more today and look for all the ways that remind you of him. And remember also that if we know Jesus well, we are encouraged to obey and please him.
Prayer blessings: The MemorareRemember, O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known that anyone who fled to thy protection, implored thy help, or sought thy intercession, was left unaided. Inspired by this confidence I fly unto thee, O Virgin of virgins, my Mother. To thee do I come, before thee I stand, sinful and sorrowful. O Mother of the Word Incarnate, despise not my petitions, but in thy mercy hear and answer me.
